The maker, Anne-Marie, says…
One of the ideas I brought home from a holiday in France was inspired by the little towns we visited. Seeing everyone walking towards the village with their market bags, returning with fresh fruit, vegetables, artisan cheeses and, of course, the obligatory baguette or two peeping out of the top, really stayed with me.
Jute bags are wonderfully sturdy, and I loved the idea of adding some market-themed bling to the front. I was also delighted to find these little chilli-shaped coin purses to complement the appliqué I’d carefully stitched into place. Market traders often appreciate smaller purchases being paid in cash, so having a few coins ready in the purse can be really handy. It clips neatly inside the bag too, so it’s always within easy reach – no scrabbling around in the bottom of your bag to find it!
I’ve called her Seraphine, a name of French origin meaning “the burning ones” which seemed rather fitting!
